You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
“Greetings.. you have been expecting me?” He would say in a peculiar tone and with an eyebrow raised, glaring intensely at the woman as he tries to recall where their paths have met before.
“You would not want to know the full story my dear..” he says with a slight chuckle, whilst adjusting the cuffs of his overcoat. “But I will say this- I am looking for a new start.. a fresh start.. if you will” he takes a deep breath of the rotten air, as he finally glances back to her “perhaps, in a more.. fresh environment.. than this” his already present smile turns almost sinister, to the point of near discomfort.
”I would love to sit around and talk all day until our bones turn into dust” he says, clearly joking, not trying to hide the fact that he was mistakenly led here by his now seemingly faulty map. He tucks his map, that has certainly seen better days, into his pocket “But I must be off, dear. Do look after yourself though” he finishes his sentence already half way outside the tent, showing little to no interest in staying around, yet an incredible amount of interest and intention to get to his desired destination…
