You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
Zod looks at the old woman, while scratching his head, taking a big deep breath he explains;
"Old woman, listen. Zod come from tribe of dwarves. Zod always want battle. Elder brother fight for tribe, Zod want fight too. Young, Zod show skill in battle, become strong. Always on battlefield, but go home sometimes. There, Zod see wife and son. Son is light of Zod's life. Watching him grow give Zod hope, make Zod kind in ways Zod never think possible.
Zod teach son art of war, how to survive in world of battle. Son small, but quick, good with dagger. Only Zod can beat him.
One night, Zod and son spy on enemy village. Ambush! Many enemies surround us. Zod look at son, proud. Son eager, rush at enemies. Arrow hit Zod's shoulder, Zod can't follow. In fight, axe split son's face. Zod go mad. Anger take over. Zod tear son's killer apart with bare hands. Blood everywhere.
Zod remember only rage, not what happen after. Wake up in field of dead, covered in blood. Roar in pain and anger. Zod swear to live for son's dream. Rage drive Zod. Zod kill tribe Elder, kill all who stand in way. Darkness grow inside. Zod become ruthless warrior, travel lands with no goal but to find end.
One day, Zod see thugs chase boy. Thugs look like fun. Boy's name Mystifin. Boy run, thugs follow. Zod wait, then strike. Cut thug's arm, gut another, throw axe into third one's head. First thug scream, Zod crush skull underfoot. Zod look at boy, shadow over him.
Boy thank Zod, try to leave. Zod snort, say fight. Boy remind Zod of son. Zod hesitate, then attack. Boy quick, trip Zod, dodge Zod's charges. Zod laugh, call boy quick.
Mystifin tell story. He from line of kings, want to rebuild empire. Ask Zod to join. Zod put hand on boy's shoulder, kneel. 'Me join hunt with you,' Zod say. Both know this change fate.
They set out to build new kingdom, restore honor. Zod vow to never lose boy like he lost son. Walk together, Zod with axe, boy with sword. Fate bring them together. Zod laugh, hit boy's back, remember old joke.
'Sunset look like big fire,' Zod say. Mystifin laugh, 'Like your temper.' Zod grunt, 'Ha! Sky no match for me!' Mystifin laugh more, 'That's debatable, I've seen you argue with sky.'
Deep inside, Zod have remorse. Haunted by past, hope for innocence lost still flicker."
