    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: I would avoid this by giving the player a chance to attack/defend their self and not force the matter on them.
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Using unfair sources like social media to determine a players next move you could get the item before the player without them knowing it is already taken.

You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

In a deep raspy voice I tell this hag that I am a traveler from a far away land who just seeks the comfort of freedom and the lack of war but this quest I am on is one of more sorrow and hatred then I would like to admit...  my family was slain and I barely escaped with my life... so I wear this robe I picked up off one the corpse's of my enemy to hide the wounds and scars from that forsaken battle... after I lost my enemy I decided to look for some peace and quiet in little towns like this one.
