Lord, I have cried out to you,
Since the days of my youth, I have cried out to you,
Even before I had many years, I cried out to GOD,
"Lord! Take away my life from the face of the earth so that my sins might not multiply and my many offenses against you might not cause me to become an abomination in your sight!"

Since the days of my youth have  I sought death, that I might sit at thy table and remain unashamed,
But the Lord did not take away my life from His creation,
With the folly of my youth I wept bitter tears and gnashed my teeth in rage,
I cried aloud to the Lord,
"Lord, my GOD, do you not hear me? The cup of this temporary and fleeting life is bitter! My sorrows and sins multiply before me! My garment has become stained and I have become unworthy to sit at your table for I have become filthy before you!"

So my hope fled from me and darkness I allowed to overwhelm me,
I became as one who goes down into the pit, and I fled from your sight
For I was greatly ashamed and my soul afflicted,

But in my lowliness the Lord reached out to me,
His light shone through all my darkness and touched me,

Then I contemplated the folly of my youth and I saw the proudness of my haughty spirit,
I meditated on the works of GOD and his wonders of old,

So now with rejoicing I have begun to praise GOD,
For in His wisdom and mercy, he has granted unto me more time to know him and repent of my sins and my offenses against him,

Great is our GOD, who is like him?
None amongst the nations are like him!

Hearken you Sons of Horen and attend,

For none is as great as our GOD!

Grant unto your lowly servant a few more years, O Lord, that I may repent and praise you just a little while longer,
For great is your mercy and compassion,

Continue your work within me,
O Lord, humble my spirit and open my eyes,
For there are none like you!

"The cup of this temporary and fleeting life is bitter indeed,"

King John, ever a religious enthusiast, mused as a copy of the psalm was brought to him by an Albarosan priest.

"Though having grown closer to Almighty GOD through the many tribulations makes it worth the struggle."

He eventually concluded, resolving to preserve the copy of what Alexios had written in his personal library.

"I think I'll keep this. It is well written."
