You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.” ((How do you respond?)) He analyzes his surroundings, absorbing the melancholic energy flowing throughout this encampment. He attempts to recollect my memory, yet everything his mind is faded by a cloudy haze. He turns his gaze back to the crone and begins to piece together the scattered memories. The woman looks on at him, the lump in his throat grows thicker. He slowly, regains his composure. "We... ah, my people... We had no food... It was terrible, everyone was starving... I couldn't stand and watch anymore. One morning, it was early... I remember that... I left my home, situated in the deep wilderness... I left with my bow and quiver; I think I had many arrows." These words escape his mouth with a shaking voice and watery eyes. He wipes the tears and remains temporarily silent. "Is that so. Well then, how did you end up in this place?" The hag inquired. "I was hunting... I was crouched behind a bush. It had been hours out there... No water... I began to doze away, until I witnessed a spectacle. It was a deer-like creature... It had great antlers and was fairly tall... Next thing I know, I'm shooting at it... I missed the first shot, so I chased it..." She expressed an inquisitive look. "It felt like an eternity... After some time... I found myself beyond the tree line... I looked around, didn't see the animal... It was then I figure I passed out for some time..." He nervously turns his eyes away from the old woman and anxiously peers around the tent. A sudden lightheadedness overcomes him. The flow of confusion, of bewilderment, swarms his mind. He never knew what the land beyond his home looked like, and he begins to wish he hadn't discovered it. It has been proven to him that the world is far beyond his understanding, after all, this horrid place neighbors his tranquil home.
