What makes a gift special? Well it is the thought that counts, but why do you think that is? Sacrifice. Sacrificing time for someone is a pleasant gift. That is why one should not buy a gift for someone to give to someone else.
In short, you should earn the money to buy the gift rather than have someone buy it for you, OR make it yourself. It is wrong to sacrifice someone else's time and take credit for the work :)
