^^I would imagine it is because it makes people OOCly uncomfortable, and so she is asking in status update, which is OOC. Why not bring it to status updates? As for the question, I suppose it depends on how you RP the torture?
Theres no point asking this in a status update. You will get nothing accomplished and it will be buried in minutes. If you really wish to know, make a topic. Though even then it wont matter much, because it doesn't matter why people are uncomfortable with things. It only matters that they are.
Personally I don't mind bring tortured icly. I would rather more rp come from a situation and torture has been fun for me in most cases. If people don't like it and ask you not to do it or skip it just do that everyone should be having fun on the server and sometimes torture just ain't there thing.
